Largest human national flag: Bangladesh breaks Guinness World Records’ record

DHAKA, Bangladesh -Monday, December 16, 2013- 27,117 volunteers from the Bangladesh Army, educational institutions and the general public stood up with red and green placards to form the national flag in Dhaka’s National Parade Ground and to break the Guinness World Records’ record for the biggest national flag; the participants stood there for 6 minutes 16 seconds,setting the new world record for the Largest human national flag, according to the World Record Academy: www.worldrecordacademy.com/.

27,117 volunteers stand up with red and green blocks to form the world’s largest human national flag at the National Parade Ground in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

The Guinness World Records’ record for the largest human national flag consisted of 24,200 participants and was achieved by members of the public attending the Punjab Youth Festival in the National Hockey Stadium, Lahore, Pakistan.

The Guinness World Record for the largest human image of a torch consisted of 1,538 participants and was organised by Mr. Bakuleshbhai R. Gupta Founder Chairman of BRG Charitable Trust and BRG Sports – Culture and Education Forum (both India), in Akota Stadium, Vadodara, India. Tens of thousands of Bangladeshi volunteers have formed the world’s biggest national flag in a bid to breach Guinness World Records’ record.

The participants stood there for 6 minutes 16 seconds, though the requirement from the Guinness Book of World Records for setting a new world record was 5 minutes.

Bangladesh’s third largest cell phone operator Robi Axiata Limited in collaboration with the Bangladesh Army organized the event.
