Drones around Bangladesh Border

Reaper drops first precision-guided bomb, protects ground forces-9The Border Security Force (BSF) of India is going to deploy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), or drones, along its border with Bangladesh and Pakistan to keep heightened vigil, its chief says.

Indian Express has reported that the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) will soon deploy unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) AKA Drones along the border with Bangladesh to maintain “accuracy”.

This descition came at a time when an Indian court accuitted BSF soldier who killed a phenomenal Bangladeshi girl named FELANI.

“The plan to deploy UAVs is picking up pace. We are actively pursuing it and would like to use them not only on the western border butalso on the eastern border with Bangladesh,”said BSF DG Subhash Joshi.

A standard operating procedure is being drafted with the Indian Air Force (IAF) to finalize the modalities of using the UAVs, saida senior BSF official. The surveillance machines, which will be flying at an altitude of 10,000-12,000 feet, will capture images and relay real-time information on the movement of infiltrators, if any, anywhere near the border, said the officer.

However, it was not immediately clear from the official account that whether these will also be used for bombing “infiltrators” as drones usually do. India is already using
Long-Range Reconnaissance and ObservationSystem (LORROS), Battlefield Surveillance Radar (BFSR) and night vision devices to enhance surveillance capabilities of the border troops.

The BSF had suggested the use of UAVs to the Ministry of Home Affairs last year.
