Special trains for Eid
e-News® | The NEW Company…DHAKA, June 21, 2015 : Bangladesh Railway will operate seven pairs of special trains for commuters on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Five pairs of train would run for three days preceding the Eid (July 15-17, depending on sighting of moon) and for seven days (July 20-26) after the Eid day. Besides, two pairs of Solakia special train would run on the day of Eid, Railways Minister Md Majibul Haque told at a press conference at Railbhaban in the city.
Of the trains, he said, two pairs will operate on Chittagong- Chandpur-Chittagong route, one pair will run on Dhaka-Dewanganj-DHaka, Parbatipur-Dhaka-Parbatipur and Khulna-Dhaka-Khulna routes. Two pairs of Solakia special train will run on Bhairab-Kishoreganj-Bhairab and Mymensingh-Kishoreganj-Mymensingh on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr only.
“A total of 169 coaches (109 meter-gauge and 60 broad-gauge) are being repaired at Pahartoli and Syedpur railway workshops to run the special trains. After repairing, 25 additional engines will be provided,” the minister added.
He said advance tickets for journey before Eid will start selling from July 9 from Dhaka and Chittagong stations in special management while ticket selling for journey after Eid will start on July 16 at Rajshahi, Khulna, Rangpur, Dinajpur and Lalmonirhat.
“A passenger can get highest four tickets and sold tickets will not be returned. From July 13, there will be no off-day for intercity train,” he added.
