GULF AVIATION TRAINING EVENT TO ASSESS THE FUTURE OF FLIGHT TRAINING

AeroBD | The AERO news Company…Dubai, UAE, Nov. 09, 2015 : The future of flight training will be assessed during Gulf Aviation Training Event (GATE) taking place on the 10 and 11 November within the Dubai Airshow 2015, led by conference director Jeff Williams, Senior Vice President, Tetra Tech. The keynote speech by Captain Kevin L. Hiatt, FRAeS, Director of Flight Safety, JetBlue Airways former Senior Vice President of Safety and Flight Operations at IATA will be a review of legacy training and standards, their relevance to today’s operating environment and next steps for the industry.

In the ‘Airplane Tracking Systems’ session, Hiatt will be joined by Ben Griffin, Regional Director MEA, Inmarsat; Darren L’Heureux,Director, Technical Sales, Avionics, Honeywell; and Captain Richard Hill, Chief Operations Officer, Etihad Airways, to examine the issues surrounding the recent tragedies involving MH370 and MH17. The panel will be moderated by Captain Alan Stealey, Divisional Senior Vice President, Flight Operations, Emirates Airline and will discuss whether the current training practices are sufficient, and consider the possibility that new technology requires specific training for the flight deck. Other session topics include an in-depth look at multi-crew pilot license (MPL), ab-initio training and an investigation into how the MENA region will meet the challenges of an escalating retirement of seasoned airline pilots while maintaining current levels of safety. These sessions, entitled ‘From Cadet to Captain Training: Solutions for the Commercial Airline Market’, ‘Pilot Demand’ and ‘MPL Ab-initio – is this the Way Forward?’ will feature representatives from CAE Civil Aviation Training Solutions; flydubai and Gulf Air, plus others from Alpha Aviation Academy and Air Line Pilots Association International (ALPA).
In addition to the conference agenda, those attending GATE will have access to the dedicated GATE pavilion and networking area situated within the Dubai Airshow, as well as to the show itself. Exhibitors within the GATE pavilion include CAE, the British Aviation Centre, the Australian Airline Pilot Academy and the Air New Zealand Aviation Institute.
