ND SatCom and RUAG announce mobile satellite communication co-operation at TechNet Europe 2015

NDTEL-RUAG-THENEWSCOMPANYe-News® | The NEWS Company…Friedrichshafen, Germany / Bern, Switzerland, Oct 21, 2015 : ND SatCom today announced a co-operation with RUAG Defence for incorporating ND SatCom’s new SKYWAN 5G – integrated in a Portable Manpack Terminal – into the RUAG ARANEA Communication Solution. This co-operation gives RUAG Defence the ability to offer more advanced mobile terminal solutions to customers.

Introduced in June this year, the highly anticipated SKYWAN 5G VSAT modem is now available with full capabilities for integration in all types of partner solutions. SKYWAN 5G enables the most flexible, scalable and reliable VSAT networks ever. The unique hardware design of this all-in-ONE compact unit means there is full functionality on board. So, whether a star, multi-star, hybrid or full mesh network is needed, SKYWAN 5G fits all topologies. It even supports switching to another topology over time. It also plays any network role such as hub or remote, thus simplifying logistics and customs handling, and enables unprecedented scalability as demand for network growth increases. As highlighted by this new partnership with RUAG, SKYWAN 5G can be reliably integrated in Manpacks,as well as Fly-Aways or any other VSAT solution. The RUAG ARANEA Communication Solution, now including the SKYWAN 5G, is specifically designed for situations requiring many different organisations communicating together, particularly on short notice. This new solution connects all available technologies accessible today, including radio channels, TETRA, 3G/4G/LTE, WLAN, Line of Sight and now, satellite communication.

“The inclusion of the SKYWAN 5G within our RUAG ARANEA Communication Solution means we can secure more communication options for those organisations we support with our all-in-one solution”, said Mike Bigler, Senior Manager Communication Technology at RUAG Defence. “We are very proud to offer the SKYWAN 5G technology to new partners, allowing them to build their own products. This includes completely mobile ad-hoc networks with geo-redundancy. Hub-less networks consisting solely of Manpack terminals will become a game-changer in the VSAT market for disaster recovery and also in tactical military networks”, stated ND SatCom’s Head of Product Management, Dr. Michael Weixler. Find out about more exciting partner solutions on www.skywan5g.com.
