Rolls-Royce redevelops its 6.75-liter V12 for the Cullinan

aerobd.news :  Three years after plans were unveiled, the luxury car brand has introduced its first SUV. Powered by a completely reworked 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12, the Cullinan will deliver 570ps

British auto maker Rolls-Royce has introduced its first ever SUV. Fitted with a reworked iteration of the V12 that features in the Phantom, the Cullinan sits on an all-new aluminum architecture.

Said by Rolls-Royce to be the most technologically advanced luxury SUV available, the Cullinan is fitted with a 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 Rolls-Royce unit that promises to deliver 570ps and 850Nm of torque at 1,600rpm. And all that power is sent to an all-new all-wheel drive and all-wheel steer system.

“History set our precedent, and today Rolls-Royce answers its call to action,” said Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO at Rolls-Royce. “The proposition of this car is an engineering masterpiece, its off-road capability, whilst maintaining the world-famous ‘Magic Carpet Ride’ of Rolls-Royce. When we began engineering this car, these were the guiding principles.”

Thanks to the new lighter architecture, and the latest generation of self-levelling air suspension, the SUV is designed for both on-road and off-road.

The Cullinan has been re-engineered throughout, including the existing air suspension system; the strengthening of drive and prop shafts; the inclusion of drive to the front wheels as well as the back; and a complete rework of the V12.
