Cessna SkyCourier mock-up displayed at NBAA-BACE
aerobd.news : A full-scale mock-up of Textron Aviation’s Cessna SkyCourier was on display at NBAA-BACE – held on October 16-18, 2018 – giving an insight into optional and standard features on board. “The Cessna SkyCourier was engineered to be a versatile, heavy utilization turboprop with significant payload to undertake a variety of missions,” said Rob Scholl, senior vice president, sales and marketing. “We’re excited for customers and NBAA attendees to experience many of the aircraft’s distinctive features first-hand.”
There is seating for up to 19 with a 32in (80cm) seat pitch and separate entry doors for passengers and crew. A netted rear cabin cargo area can accommodate luggage and equipment, and optional overhead baggage compartments provide additional storage space. USB charging ports are located throughout the seating area. “Since announcing the Cessna SkyCourier last year, we’ve seen continued interest from operators searching for a modern utility aircraft capable of flexible operations and configurations,” said Scholl. “Their feedback has enabled us to optimize many of the aircraft’s features, allowing us to deliver a mission-ready platform.” The Cessna SkyCourier is a twin-engine, high-wing, large utility turboprop designed to deliver a combination of robust performance and low operating costs for air freight, commuter and special-mission operators.
In addition to the passenger configuration displayed, Textron Aviation also designed a separate freighter variant, which offers a maximum payload of 6,000 lb and can accommodate up to three LD3 shipping containers. Both freighter and passenger variants will offer single-point pressure refueling to enable faster turnarounds. Earlier in 2018, the company completed initial wind tunnel testing, propelling the aircraft into a new phase of development. Initial build of the main landing gear and nose gear is now underway. Textron Aviation anticipates first flight in 2019, with entry into service in 2020.
